Program Objectives
The objective of the Ottawa High School Technology Centre will be to offer all Ottawa secondary students the opportunity to access quality technology curriculum that is current and relevant and that will:
- increase the number of students pursuing a career in the technology sector, specifically software engineering;
- educate all students on the importance of science and technology to their future employment opportunities;
- build a stronger connection between the local technology community and the students, teachers, guidance counselors and parents;
- educate all parties on the viable career paths, workplace opportunities, training options, and future trends for technology careers;
- provide a model for replication in other schools; and
- establish ongoing support from the partners and the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Training, Universities and Colleges in order to sustain the centre beyond the pilot stage.
