2011-2012 Program Update
For the 2011-20

Students from Garneau's Ottawa High School Technology Program complete a workshop at the University of Ottawa where they learn to program a computer to turn on an LED light. January 2012
12 school year, OCRI and the Ottawa Network for Education, in partnership with IBM and the Ottawa Software Cluster will continue offering the high school technology program to participating Ottawa high schools during. The program continues to rely on the support from industry experts who serve as mentors and assist the high school students with the programming aspect of their projects. This year participating students will create web-enabled educational games, which they will demo for Grade 3 students from a "sister school".

September 2011 - January 2012 Agenda:
- University of Ottawa Robotics Workshop: Participating students are tasked with building an autonomous sumo-wrestling robot, using Lego MindstormTM kits. Students work together in groups of three to construct, program, and test their robots. Finally, the students group together around the ring to watch their robots duke it for sumo supremacy. The Robotics workshop is an absolute blast and is an excellent introduction to the growing field of robotics. May the best robot win!

- Algonquin College Tour: Participating students will tour the Computer studies area of the Information and Communications Technology department, as well as the Multimedia studies area of the Arts, Media & Design department.

- Fuel Industries Tour: Participating students will tour Fuel Industries, experts in the fields of animation, design, film and video production, sound design, music and online programming.
